Useful Information
The procedure for certification of radio equipment
Certification of radio equipment follows a defined sequence of steps. The exact scope of testing depends on the equipment type and applicable standards, but the overall procedure is the same.
- 1
Application submission
The applicant submits a certification application together with technical documentation: product description, specifications, circuit and design documents, user manual and available test reports.
- 2
Document review
The certification body reviews the documentation, identifies the applicable standards and technical regulations and agrees the scope of testing with the applicant.
- 3
Sample testing
Product samples are tested in the laboratory: radio frequency parameters, electromagnetic compatibility and electrical safety, depending on the equipment category.
- 4
Evaluation of results
Test reports and documentation are evaluated against the applicable requirements. If non-conformities are found, the applicant is informed and may correct them.
- 5
Certification decision
When conformity is confirmed, the certification body takes a positive decision and issues the certificate of conformity.
- 6
Surveillance
Where the certification scheme requires it, periodic surveillance is performed during the certificate's validity to confirm continued conformity.
